:: Miko Kikyo ::

Pronunciation: Kee-kee-yoe
Age: Not counting the 50 years dead, Kikyo is either 17 or 18.
Status: Miko (Priestess)
Alias: Lady Kikyo, Miko Kikyo
Siblings: Kaede, her younger sister
Weapons: Miko Powers (these powers are odd and hard to explain), Soul Skimmers, and bow and arrows
Love Interest: Inuyasha, the one who "betrayed" her
(Paragraph taken from Shrine Maiden)
Appearance: Kikyo's Miko outfit consists of a white top known as a "hakui", and long red skirt like pants that are called a "hakama". Her hair is styled in what is referred to as a "tarashigami", which is basically a straight ponytail hang down the back, tied with a white ribbon. Her shoes are wooden sandals worn with white cut off socks. Sometimes when she is summoning her Shinidamachuu (dead soul insects), the ribbon is removed and her hair flows freely.

Information: Kikyo is the one who sealed Inuyasha to the tree after being tricked by Naraku. After sealing Inuyasha to the sacred tree, Kikyo died almost instantaneously. 50 years later, her bones and graveyard soil is stolen by the evil witch Urasue who uses it to revive her. After getting back her soul from Kagome, Kikyo starts to furiously fight Inuyasha exclaiming he betrayed her. Kagome eventually takes back most of her soul, leaving Kikyo only with her hatred of Inuyasha to keep moving on. She later learns that it was not Inuyasha that betrayed her, but Naraku (a.k.a Onigumo). After learning this, Kikyo has dedicated her life to sending Naraku to hell.

The name means...
Kikyou means "Chinese bellflower". Kikyo name also came from the principles of Yin and Yang. The name "Kikyo" symbolizes five fundamental elements in the principle. (There are 2 ways to spell Kikyo, Kikyou or Kikyo. I will use Kikyo on the site.)

(Next paragraph taken from Inuyasha Companion)
Voice Actresses: Most Takahashi fans will know Noriko Hidaka, the voice of Ranma ½'s Akane Tendo. Noriko also played Jean in Nadia of the Blue Water and Satsuki in My Neighbor Totoro.
Equally well known to English speaking Takahashi fans is Willow Johnson, Kikyo's English voice. Willow was also on Ranma ½ as Kasumi Tendo. She also played Mobile Suit Gundam's legendary Lalah Sune and Lily McGuire in Fatal Fury.
